In late 2018, Alex from Glenferness Estate contacted us with a clear challenge: the family
business had long focused on sporting activities like fishing and shooting, but he wanted to
strengthen the accommodation side by giving it a dedicated website. At that point, they
didn’t have a proper platform of their own and were relying on third-party listings such as
Airbnb, TripAdvisor, and Booking.com. The result was scattered information, disconnected
calendars, and limited control over branding.
We put together a proposal for a bespoke website that would not only showcase the estate
but also make it easy for guests to view availability and book directly. The project included a
complete design from scratch, an integrated booking system through Freetobook, and
professional photography to capture the cottages and surrounding grounds. The aim was
simple: boost bookings during low season, attract a younger audience, and give Glenferness
an online presence worthy of its heritage.
The site launched in 2019 with pages covering the estate’s history, accommodation,
activities, prices and availability, and contact information. Bookings quickly became more
streamlined, as the new site connected with external platforms to keep calendars aligned.
Guests could also download a custom welcome pack we designed, providing practical
information for their stay.
Over the years, we have continued to support Alex with updates and new developments. As
the estate grew into a wedding venue, we added pages to promote that side of the business.
We also expanded the content around fishing and hunting, ensuring all aspects of the estate
were properly represented. Regular maintenance and support kept the site secure, up to
date, and aligned with changing business needs.
Today, Glenferness Estate has a professional, long-standing online presence that supports
accommodation, weddings, and sporting activities. The website has helped secure steady
bookings, strengthen the brand, and free Alex from the frustrations of juggling multiple
platforms without a central hub.
For Glenferness Estate, the website became more than a booking tool — it became the
digital face of a multi-faceted business, supporting growth and helping transition the estate
into a new chapter under Alex’s leadership.
