Why We Swapped Paper Business Cards for a Metal NFC Card (And Why Your Business Should Too)

If you’ve met Archie from Nightingweb recently, you’ll have noticed he has stopped handing out paper business cards. Instead, he tap’s a small metal card against your phone, and his full digital profile pops up – no app, no typing in a phone number, no card getting lost in the bottom of a bag.

We’re now using Introcard, a premium metal NFC and QR business card built around a “living” digital profile. We liked it enough that we think it’s worth sharing with our own clients here in Moray and the Highlands, especially if you’re often at networking events, trade shows, or client meetings.

What is an NFC business card?

NFC stands for near-field communication – the same tech behind contactless payments. An NFC business card, like Introcard, lets someone tap your card against their phone to instantly open your digital profile. If their phone doesn’t support NFC, the QR code on the Introcard does the same job.

That profile can include:

● Your phone number, email and a one-tap “save contact” (vCard) button

● Links to LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube and all other major social platforms -without forgetting your own website

● A direct link to leave you a Google review

● Any custom links you want to add

Update your profile once, and it updates everywhere! No more binning a box of cards because your number changed.

Why we like it for local businesses

A few things stood out to us:

It’s a one-time cost, not another subscription. Introcard is a flat £49 per card, with no ongoing fees. For a small business already juggling hosting, software and marketing subscriptions, that’s a refreshing change.

The build quality is genuinely nice. Each card is a precision-stamped, burnished metal card. It doesn’t feel like a gimmick, it feels like a proper business card that happens to be smart.

The analytics are useful, not just novelty. You can see how many taps, profile views and link clicks your card is generating, and which links people actually use. If you’re trying to work out whether people click through to your Google reviews or your website more, that data is genuinely handy.

It solves a real problem for service businesses. For trades, consultants, photographers and anyone else who meets clients face to face, a card that always has your current details and nudges people toward a Google review – is a small thing that adds up.

Who it’s for

Introcard is aimed at individuals and small teams who do a lot of face-to-face networking: tradespeople, consultants, estate agents, photographers, hospitality owners – the same kind of local businesses we build websites for every day at Nightingweb. If your business relies on people remembering how to find you after a five-minute conversation at an event, this solves that problem better than a card that ends up in a drawer.

Where to get one

Introcard cards are £49 each, one-off payment, and ship from the UK. You can see the full details, dimensions and order one directly at introcard.co.uk
